Model based on the 1978 Japanese market 1200LSE – the European model 1200L having a 1600cc fuel injected engine – with factory options specifically conforming to local market requirements.

Context: 

A ‘final’ Beetle imported from Germany into Japan by Yanase – the largest Japanese importer of foreign automobiles. – during March 1978. Accessories including matching upholstery carry ‘Boston’ bag with logo, key case and commemorative medal with certificate. 500 (250 of each colour) Glory Beetles were produced by Volkswagen AG at Emden (Germany).
