Glitter Bugs were a 3M Programme for brand new VW’s repainted in custom glow or glitter paint colours – which could also include the roof to look like vinyl. They also came with 3M racing stripe/tape kits in Black, White, Silver or Red named Monza Curve, Le Mans Straight, Monaco Patch, Nurburgring and Sebring C, Zandvoort Streaks.

The cars were pulled from the assembly line by 3M who would apply the special paint and graphics using the original VW paint as a base coat. The rest of the Special Edition package was then installed (most probably from the Formula Vee range – which could include walnut steering wheel and control knob inserts, wood grain dashboard kit, walnut gear shift). The cars then went through the final assembly and delivered to Dealers.

Each had the GlitterBug logo included. There was also a Glitter Bug badge for your glove box or deck lid.
